We Don’t Know the Effect of What We Do is a hand-carved wood sculpture by James Gilbert. Carved from wood and assembled with metal before being finished with stain, varnish, and wax, the sculpture examines how objects can accumulate authority over time while their origins, meanings, and consequences remain uncertain.
