The Difficult Middle is a hand-carved wood sculpture by James Gilbert. Through carved surfaces, exposed construction, and an intentionally unstable anthropomorphic form, the sculpture reflects on ambiguity, negotiation, and the complex space between opposing positions rather than fixed conclusions.
