Reigns Complete and Utter Silence | James Gilbert

Hand-carved wooden sculpture composed of intertwined anthropomorphic forms with multiple heads and projecting limbs arranged in a compact vertical composition. The surface is finished with stain, ink, varnish, and wax, allowing the wood grain and carved tool marks to remain visible

A hand-carved wooden sculpture composed of interconnected anthropomorphic figures arranged into a compact, multidirectional composition. Multiple heads, torsos, and limbs merge through continuous carved transitions, creating a shifting silhouette that changes from each viewpoint. Visible tool marks, faceted carving, and subtle surface irregularities remain throughout the sculpture. Layers of stain, ink, varnish, and wax enhance the natural grain of the wood while preserving the tactile qualities of the carved surface.
