All the More for That | James Gilbert
A hand-carved wooden sculpture constructed from interconnected anthropomorphic forms compressed into a dense, unstable-looking arrangement. Multiple heads, limbs, hands, and feet overlap and extend in different directions, creating a structure that shifts between balance, entanglement, support, and collapse. Layers of pink stain, ink, varnish, and wax emphasize the wood grain, carved facets, visible tool marks, and irregular surface. The figures remain difficult to separate from one another, allowing gestures to suggest intimacy, struggle, dependence, or absurdity at the same time.
